The Dust Bowl of Southern Alberta, where I spent much of my earlier life, is not really a dust bowl at all. That's just the fancy name given to it by someone who's never been there. It's also known as the Dry Area, the Drought Area and--since the government took notice of it and formed a Board to administer it--The Special Area.
